The Friends
of the Alger Theater have worked hard to keep the community
spirit alive at its home on the corner of East Outer Drive and East Warren
Avenue. The Friends have hosted a variety of events here -- the Annual
Street Fair, Halloween Parties, Christmas Parties, Jazz and Blues Concerts,
a community garage sale, and more.

Blues Concert

The Friends hosted a
successful "Ribs and Blues" concert featuring RJ's
Rhythm Rockers at the Pointe Bar-B-Q on East Warren. The event was
a great success and brought together many friends and supporters
from the Community to enjoy Pointe-Bar-B-Q's famous ribs and RJ
Rhythm Rockers' excellent music.

Annual Alger Street Fair
|
|
|
The annual Alger
Street Fair has provided a variety of entertainment and
community-enriching activities, such as: displays of collector cars
and motorcycles, art exhibitions, live music, dance performances,
carnival games and rides, children's entertainment, and food
concessions.

Friends take over busy East Outer Drive to stage a "Rally in
the Alley" (September 8, 2002).To help raise community support
and funds for the Alger's restoration, excellent local
entertainers performed while everyone enjoyed the games, food, fun
and community fellowship! |

Dinner

Held at a neighboring East
Side landmark itself, The Blue Pointe Restaurant, our Annual Benefit
Dinner has featured some of Detroit's influential leaders and
popular personalities.

the importance of teamwork in reaching a common goal. A good lesson
